Weekend Wrap-up

leprechaunA summer-like Friday and Saturday gave way to a more seasonable Sunday and the violence statistics reflected as much. From Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon there were two (2) killed plus another 11 wounded. Through the rest of the weekend there were an additional two (2) killed (1 shot, 1 stabbed) and just one (1) other wounded.

A breakdown of the 15 shootings shows:

  • 14 males
  • 1 female
  • 25.3yo average age
  • 5 teenagers
  • Youngest 15
  • 5 hit in head (3 dead)
  • A couple in critical condition
  • 20% shot-to-kill ratio
  • 7 neighborhoods
  • 6 shot on Team Englewood

Comparing to recent past weekends:

  • 9/27 weekend: 9 dead, 35 wounded
  • 9/20 weekend: 1 dead, 15 wounded
  • 9/13 weekend: 2 dead, 9 wounded
  • 9/6 weekend: 5 dead, 17 wounded

What’s not included in the above was the pieces of Jose Reyes found in garbage bags buried in an Ashburn backyard.

    Wait, is the CPD not counting that yet even though a father and daughter was just recently charged with murder?

      No they are and even if they didn’t we’d still count it. We’re saying that it’s not included in this particular bit of commentary is all.
