I really like this “as it occurs” commentary. Keep it up and thank you for your time.

The weekend seems to be going slowly. Perhaps the “Extra” day monday is causing the “Honor Students” to adopt a more leisurely pace when it comes to ventilating each other,it is after all the last weekend of Summer.

    • DMS August 30, 2014 at 8:18 pm

Or………saving up ammo for the extra long weekend.
I say they bust it out tonight.

      • James manos August 31, 2014 at 7:57 am

I don’t mean to be contentious, however if said “Honor Students” could think ahead , and plan for the future then they wouldn’t be “Honor Students”now would they?

  3. Mayberry RFD August 30, 2014 at 9:16 pm

A bit disappointed that the summer is amost over, as the conversion rate is just starting to improve.

    Hoping for a teachers strike.

In your chart of “Race of Victim/Attacker” it would be nice to see it in a matrix form with the race of the victim going down and race of attacker going across. Then we could see how many of each race were killed by how many of each race. For example, of the 218 blacks, 200 killed by blacks, 15 by hispanic, 2 by cops, 1 by white, 0 by asian. Plus it would help people like Jackson and Sharpton determine where they should focus their efforts (i.e. what race is killing the most blacks? the amish?)

    • W.H.Thompson August 31, 2014 at 7:18 am

Thanks for the suggestion. We don’t have a lot of room to work with, but the matrix idea is a good one. However, we might have to leave out the Amish due to said space restraints.

      • Sgt X August 31, 2014 at 8:00 am

Instead of by Cops, maybe we can have by “racist” cops (Big Eye Roll)!

      • DMS August 31, 2014 at 6:42 pm

How about a page where we could ask Jesse and Al questions, or ask for their comments.
I’m sure they are aware of this site, if not, we could let them know about it.
I’d like to see if they even know how to answer a direct question.

      • Bob Angone September 1, 2014 at 10:16 am

W/H I hope you can go with that guy’s matrix idea.It has become a TRENDING theme for the race baiters. As goofy as it sounds, when people really see it for themselves they (the sensitive naive) might actually have the same awakening as the British Officer at the end of “The Bridge On the River Kwai)

        • W.H.Thompson September 1, 2014 at 10:24 am

We’ve noticed the trend as well. Just had an idea on how to display the matrix, but we’ll be utilizing the Honor Roll page to do so. Stay tuned…

      • Mike D September 1, 2014 at 4:50 pm

Leaving out the Amish? Wow! Good luck with that algorithm. It will require a highly complex data structure. Don’t forget to include a diminishing returns principle, floating decimal point. And lizards.

  5. a August 31, 2014 at 8:04 am

since you are entertaining suggestions, a suggestion – maybe you could add a “Total Shot” category to your first 3 charts

    • W.H.Thompson August 31, 2014 at 12:36 pm

      Like it.

    • Adam August 31, 2014 at 12:38 pm

Lol just add the two numbers in your head.

  6. Box Monster of Summit August 31, 2014 at 12:23 pm

I know of atleast 2 by shooting that happened last night. Father popped his wife and I’m not sure if someone else as well then turned it on himself.

Was in Elmhurst however not Chicago. Friends phone was blowing up who worked with the lady.

  7. Box Monster of Summit August 31, 2014 at 12:24 pm

Make that 4. Was his wife and family.

    • Parker August 31, 2014 at 5:56 pm

That’s two of those in Elmhurst in the last few years, as well as that wing nut who killed his kid’s best friend in the basement the night after high school graduation……..Didi Mao! Didi Mao!

  8. Parker August 31, 2014 at 6:04 pm

By the by, I’m in Sister Bay WI this weekend, wearing the new t-shirt. Looks great, good fit. Weathered the coffee I spilled on it nicely.

Chalkie is getting curious and odd looks, and I’ve had a little light conversation on the matter. Your link to John Kass’ comments about Ferguson MO and the executed nine-year-old in Chicago are stunning to people. Dunno if we’ll have any new converts, but the message is striking the right cords.

    • W.H.Thompson August 31, 2014 at 7:55 pm

Nice! How are Al Johnson’s goats doing?

  9. Pissed off taxpayer September 1, 2014 at 2:36 am

Stupidity Tally as of 11:00p: 4 killed, 31 wounded.

How pathetic. 35 lead catchers and only 4 (11%) bought the farm. What the hell is going on? Oh, that’s right- The “LINK for lead” swap isn’t until the first of the month.

    • W.H.Thompson September 1, 2014 at 10:26 am

It’s worse than that because 2 of the current 5 homicides this weekend were not gunshot related – 1 via auto, 1 via assault.

  10. Dave Stumm September 1, 2014 at 11:51 am

More lead + less Dead = MORE Money
Since this years Labor day total of shot+dead now equals last year with a day to go, I wonder if the politicians have considered adding up the medical costs for all the “shot + dead”?
Could they then compare that total to the “Savings” they have achieved with a smaller police force?
I’m betting they have spent more money on medical than they saved with a smaller police force.
One way to reduce the mayhem is to use the money going to the revruns to pay for the increased medical expenses. That may get the community to snitch on the evil doers.

    • Mayberry RFD September 1, 2014 at 5:44 pm

Alternative – take it out of their living allowances they get from us. Hell, they don’t want police in their community anyway – they might hold someone responsible or shoot one of their gentle giants walking to his grandma’s house after stealing a box of swisher sweets. Now that saved the taxpayers of Missouri a great deal of money.

Also, Would possibly get more of the savages in the streets, thereby increasing the conversion.

  11. Fr. Marquette September 1, 2014 at 5:58 pm

I was a little short of my 70/300 over and under for the month, but hey, how many people went missing? Wonder if you can add them in as well. I was also astounded that someone actually was arrested in Cicero this weekend….that’s improvement by itself. Here are my predictions for September…a back to school 45/280… Great work gents!

    • Chiraq or Afcago? September 1, 2014 at 8:36 pm

Fr. M – if we hit your suggested 325 number, we’ll have blown by the milestone of 2,000 shootings within 9 months. But…feel safer since #crimeisdown

      • Fr. Marquette September 1, 2014 at 11:02 pm

I read the Department of Justice reporton domestic terrorism….I am happy to report that there was no mention of Islamic terrorism as a domestic threat…we all can rest safer now that both crime is down and Islamic terrorism is not a threat. When do the Cub’s world series tickets go on sale?

  12. Wulf September 2, 2014 at 3:58 pm

The reason there are more wounded than dead has far less to do with the amount of bullets flying around and a lot to do with the EMS and the doctors at County and the other trauma hospitals. They have all gotten a lot of practice with gunshot wounds. What would have been life ending only a few years ago now ends up living.

    • Chicago Nick September 2, 2014 at 7:05 pm

EMS and ER docs introduce a good variance into the city’s homicide statistics. They do more to keep that murder rate down compared to any sort of “strategery” from City Hall or Chief McStreetlights
