As Winter finally recedes and Spring arrives, the casual correlation between weather and violence will start its upward trend towards the Summer Shooting Season. Never to be left out of said correlation is the occasional assailant who unexpectedly and rather quickly assumes room temperature.
A retired Chicago police officer shot and killed a male attacker who tried to carjack him in the Bridgeport neighborhood Wednesday night, authorities said.
The retired officer was in a vehicle in the 2900 block of South Shields Avenue about 7:20 p.m. when three males went up to the car and one pointed a gun at him and demanded the vehicle, police said in a media notification.
The retired officer then shot the gunman in the upper body, police said.
