October Wrap-up

Posted on November 3, 2020

Carnac the MagnificentWhile the election is taking up most of the oxygen in the room of late, October went ahead and posted its worst tally since the last major election year of 2016. Officialdom decided the best comparison was to use April’s 58/195 as its “lowest since” metric thereby skipping five months of unacceptability.

October 2020: 69 killed, 297 wounded
October 2019: 40 killed, 192 wounded
October 2018: 54 killed, 209 wounded
October 2017: 59 killed, 227 wounded
October 2016: 82 killed, 348 wounded
October 2015: 31 killed, 203 wounded
October 2014: 39 killed, 215 wounded
October 2013: 35 killed, 98 wounded

A breakdown of the month’s idiocy shows:

  • 62 shot & killed
  • 4 stabbed
  • 3 killed via other means
  • 1 shot by police, fatal
  • 4 self defense, 2 fatal
  • 7 homicide-linked arrests
  • Averaged 11 people shot per day
  • 3 days were homicide-free
  • 74 in serious or critical condition
  • 61 males killed vs 8 females
  • 57 Blacks, 10 Hispanics, 2 White/Other
  • 4 children 12 and younger shot
  • 53 teenagers shot, 5 fatally
  • Homicide age range: newborn-69
  • Team Garfield Park led w/ 46 shot, 7 fatal
  • 17 grazed
  • 2 selfies
  • 25 #ShotInTheAss

Our October forecast of 60 homicides with an additional 300 shot and wounded is likely to be more accurate than any election poll. November will look to continue the trend and post yet another 60 homicides with 275 finding themselves shot and wounded. Our year end guesstimate still has us looking at 750 to 800 homicides and upwards of 4000 shot and wounded.
