October Wrap-up

Posted on October 31, 2019

Carnac the Magnificent If Slumpin’ Hennessy Ed and his 16 shots and a (DUI) coverup is to take credit for the slowing stupidity, then it would be advantageous to keep his tab open.

October 2019: 40 killed, 192 wounded
October 2018: 54 killed, 209 wounded
October 2017: 59 killed, 227 wounded
October 2016: 82 killed, 348 wounded
October 2015: 31 killed, 203 wounded
October 2014: 39 killed, 215 wounded

A breakdown of the month’s idiocy shows:

  • 37 (92%) shot & killed
  • A person killed every 18 hours, 26 minutes
  • A person shot & wounded every 3 hours, 52 minutes
  • Everyday tallied at least two shot
  • 9 days were homicide-free
  • 1 mass shooting leaves 5 dead
  • Zero police-involved shootings
  • 2 homicide-linked arrests
  • 42 in serious or critical condition
  • 35 males killed vs 5 females
  • 29 Blacks killed vs 3 Hispanics vs 7 Whites
  • Average age of a homicide victim, 31
  • Youngest homicide victim, 15, oldest, 65
  • 31 teenagers shot, 10 killed
  • 13 grazed
  • 5 selfies
  • 13 #ShotInTheAss
  • 44 shot by the State of Indiana

Like the Cubs, our October forecast of 50 homicides with another 200 shot and wounded was a bit outside of the ballpark. With last November being a “more dead, less lead” sort of affair with 48 homicides and an additional 129 wounded along with the fact we’re already seeing snow, we’re looking for 40 homicides plus another 150 wounded. This would keep our year end homicide forecast of 520-540 unchanged and on target.
