March Wrap-up
Posted on April 4, 2018
A very chilly March yielded very little spring-like weather but it did help facilitate a below recent average body count. Of course, this is heralded as yet another “remarkable” drop from last year’s shitshow.
March 2018: 31 killed, 143 wounded
March 2017: 40 killed, 175 wounded
March 2016: 50 killed, 281 wounded
March 2015: 35 killed, 179 wounded
March 2014: 27 killed, 104 wounded
A breakdown of the month’s idiocy shows:
- 25 shot & killed
- 5 stabbed
- 1 strangled
- 2 non-fatal police shootings
- 2 homicide-linked arrests
- Averaged 5.4 people shot per day
- 12 days were homicide-free
- 3 death investigations
- 32 in serious or critical condition
- 29 males killed vs 2 females
- 31 teenagers shot, 4 killed
- 5 grazed
- 3 selfies
- 10 #ShotInTheAss
Our March guesstimate of “45 homicides with another 180 shot and wounded” was way off. Eventually, the weather will break and April is usually when we see our first 70 degree infused weekend Shoot-O-Rahm-a disaster. Due to the frosty start, we’re forecasting a 40 homicide April with an additional 160 shot and wounded which would put us well below last year’s 49/270 combo.
