June’s 35
Posted on July 2, 2014
Back on June 1st, we made our monthly prediction: “For June, we’re going to stick with what worked for May and make the exact same prediction, 46 (+/- 4) homicides with 230 (+/- 10) shot and wounded.” We were juuuust a bit outside on both this time around but for total incidents we were right there, guessed 276-ish vs 283 actual.
June’s homicide count will likely rise over the next few weeks as “death investigations” turn into homicides and life support recipients are removed.
Here’s a look at some June stats:
- 35 homicides (-24% from 2013)
- 248 shot & wounded (+10% from 2013)
- 25 in critical condition
- 253 Males/30 Females
- 32 shot, 2 stabbed, 1 auto
- 5 police-involved shootings
- 44 multi-victim incidents
- Team Austin led w/ 5 killed, 38 wounded
- 24 shot in the ass (+118% from 2013)
For July, were going to stick with the ‘more lead, less dead’ theme and predict 45 (+/- 4) homicides with 250 (+/- 10) shot and wounded.
PS – For the third consecutive month in a row, we’ve had our most trafficked month yet. We tallied a 238% increase in traffic over last June. Thank you!
