January Wrap-up

Posted on January 30, 2020

Carnac the Magnificent Without the benefit of the Polar Vortex (and the Juicy Smollett Hoax), this January posted average returns that’ll require certain individuals to ignore last year and choose any other year to make the “crime is down” comparison work.

January 2020: 36 killed, 140 wounded
January 2019: 23 killed, 112 wounded
January 2018: 42 killed, 173 wounded
January 2017: 57 killed, 258 wounded
January 2016: 57 killed, 256 wounded
January 2015: 32 killed, 120 wounded

A breakdown of the month’s idiocy shows:

  • 4 stabbed
  • 4 beaten
  • A person killed every 20 hours, 34 minutes
  • A person shot & wounded every 4 hours, 28 minutes

  • 34 males killed vs 2 females
  • 22 Blacks killed vs 11 Hispanics vs 2 Unknown

February is always the slowest and quietest month of the year which sometimes yields a “remarkable” decrease in the increase. We’re forecasting 30 homicides with another 120 shot and wounded which will mark the low point of the year as Spring Training arrives and practice begins ahead of the annual Summer Shooting Season.
