“It’s not the weather”
Posted on March 19, 2014
The StreetLight Assassin held a press conference today for the trained seals to talk about how #CrimeIsDown:
“Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said Tuesday that the city’s strategy to reduce gang violence is “clearly taking root,” pointing to a major decrease in gang-related shootings.
Those types of shootings have fallen sharply over the early months of this year compared with the same period of 2013, according to the department.
They now represent less than half of the total number of shooting incidents in Chicago.”
There’s no doubt that shootings, homicides and crime in general is down quite a bit so far this year. We’d love to give the CPD full credit if it wasn’t for one minor factor: weather. Really f*cking cold and snowy weather. As in the 3rd coldest and snowiest on record weather. Like it received its own Twitter hashtag weather.
Like all good political hacks, Streetlight continues with “It’s not an accident, it’s not the weather — it’s a trend….”
We often wonder what the crime would be like if, all else being the same, we had Los Angeles or San Diego weather?
Keep it short and to the point. Name calling and similar stupidity will be deleted. If you insist on writing several paragraphs, start your own blog.
