Death Investigations

When Chicago Magazine published their blockbuster article on how the CPD manipulates the stats, we were not surprised. Case in point within the article was a story of a mother and son who died in an arson fire, yet they were never classified as homicides. At the time, we made note of incident, but 1) didn’t include it in our stats and 2) never heard about it again until the Chicago Mag article was published.
Now last week we’ve witnessed some more fire play with two women found dead within burning cars, on the same day, just miles away from one another:
“A person was found dead in a burning vehicle in Auburn Gresham Friday morning, just hours before a woman was found dead outside of a burning SUV in the same South Side neighborhood. The first body was found about 5 a.m. in a burning vehicle in the 8400 block of South Gilbert, police said.
Less than two miles away, a woman was found dead outside a burning Kia SUV at 7:45 a.m.”
Very suspicious. Were they both driving Ford Pintos that happened to be rear ended?
Unlike the previously mentioned arson case, this time however, we’re not waiting for official word (autopsies for both people were inconclusive) and unfortunately we’ve added both women to our stats.
If it turns out that both women or new Kia SUVs spontaneously combusted, we’ll happily back out both homicides from our official tally.
Keep it short and to the point. Name calling and similar stupidity will be deleted. If you insist on writing several paragraphs, start your own blog.
