August’s 50 (Now 51)

Posted on September 1, 2015

CarnacJust like how February is the low stupid mark for any given year (strategies are working!), August tends to be the high stupid mark (guns!). The number of homicides came in slightly lower than last year (numerous death investigations pending), but the number of people shot hit a recent record.

As for our August prediction, we were under for one and over on the other: “…we’ll predict a total of 56 (+/-4) homicides plus another 300 (+/-10) shot and wounded.” Swing and a miss!

Final Stupidity Tally: 51 killed, 311 wounded
Last August’s Tally: 54 dead, 250 wounded

A breakdown of the month’s idiocy shows:

  • 47 shot & killed
  • 4 killed via other means
  • 6 ongoing “death investigations”
  • 4 police-involved shootings (1 killed)
  • 49 in serious or critical condition
  • 45 males killed, 5 females
  • 82 teenagers shot, 9 killed
  • 19 grazed
  • 4 selfies
  • 19 #ShotInTheAss
  • 46 shot in Englewood vs just 12 in July

September acts like a summer month only with the bonus of after school brawls. Last September tallied 46 homicides and 211 shot and wounded, therefore we’ll predict a total of 45 (+/-4) homicides plus another 260 (+/-10) shot and wounded.

Keep it short and to the point. Name calling and similar stupidity will be deleted. If you insist on writing several paragraphs, start your own blog.

I predicted 49 homicides for August.

    I’ll say 54 for September!

Are the police sitting back like in Baltimore and letting Obama’s possible sons run wild? Is that the cause of the 25% spike in shootings?
On a very, very sad note…just read of the cop killed north of Chicago.
The animals are truly running the zoo.

Baltimore should do what the residents of Englewood are doing. 14% or so reduction in homicides and a lot of people are claiming its from simply putting plywood with “stop shooting” type messages on them and law abiding residents occupying street corners. Or hell, maybe police in Englewood have started their own hamsterdam (think “The Wire”). What ever it is, murders are down.

But then again, Baltimore suffers from the same conditions that the west side of chicago does; murders are primarily drug/money related and not simply “Gangbanging”(people killing each other and the only motive is because someone is in a different Gang than them), which is which is the motive behind most south and north side shootings. So who knows what baltimore needs (other than for cops to stop acting like whiny little girls everytime the public questions unarmed killings of citizens and residents NEED to step up, but both of those won’t really end everything).

Wrong. Most murders are over ” Disrespect”
        About 8 out of 10

        • Kkrdent September 2, 2015 at 5:25 pm

Disrespect” is to broad. Plenty of things are “disrespectful” in the streets.

Walking up to someone and “dropping” or “throwing down” their Gang sign is disrespectful and can get you killed. But since “disrespect” is not a category when classifying a homicide, it is Gang related.

Stealing someone’s drug money, owing someone money from drugs with no intentions of paying, stealing someone’s drugs, or selling drugs where someone doesn’t want you selling is disrespectful and can get you killed. Murders of this sort usually happen on Chicago’s west side. The victims tend to usually all range in ages from 21-38 yrs old (younger or older people are not rare in the drug world, and are of course victims of this also), almost always suffer from upper body, neck, face/head shots (this is because there is more motivation to kill someone over money/drugs, where as you see a overwhelming amount of leg/non fatal gun shot wounds on the north and south sides because there is no real motivation to kill someone over simply “gangbanging”, they just have a point to prove), and are almost always killed or critically wounded with someone else. I know this is a long comment but bare with me lol.

Robbing someone is disrespectful. Beating someone up or jumping them can be seen as disrespectful, and plenty of other things. So, yes, “disrespect” is a motive, but my point in the original comment still stands. Anything can be deemed “disrespectful” but “disrespect” isn’t the main motive to a murder. What caused the “disrespect” is.

No, I think the Baltimore PD has it right. If the idiot mayor and honors corps want to scream and holler every time one of their precious honor students gets scratched, and the DA wants to rush for a public lynching versus getting the facts in line, the PD have little reason to actively seek out harm for themselves.

I’m perfectly fine with the Hamsterdam thing, and if the residents want to actively take matters into their own hands and stand up for their neighborhoods, then they’ll likely have the same success as the Moms did in Englewood. Hell, they could even PARTNER with the cops and really do done good.

On the other hand, if the neighborhoods want to quit after a month, and the PD is going to be vilified for actively engaging bad guys being bad guys, then just as CPS is an overfunded babysitting service, CPD may as well become a trash removal service for our lovelier manors.

They should just implement the Obola-Sharpton plan. Disarm all the police and issue them all bomb squad costumes. Purchase up-armored hearses and just drive around and collect all the human waste in the streets to keep the stench down. They would have to be renamed the community sanitation corps… and yes.. the p is not silent.

Is information available anywhere concerning race of both shooters and victims both on a state and national basis. Would be very interested to know the ratios of whites shot by blacks and blacks shot by whites. An apples to apples comparison may well be more relevant as the days go forward considering the BLM rhetoric.

    • JB0143 September 1, 2015 at 3:25 pm

This site has a graphic on that statistic for Chiraq.

For national statistics you would have to look at the FBI UCR (Uniform Crime Report). Not sure if the UCR has that specific statistic though.

  4. Sparky September 1, 2015 at 7:31 pm

That’s a lot of people shot in the ass in August.

  5. scooter46 September 1, 2015 at 7:37 pm

Just curious. How many geniuses make it onto 2 graphs at once? Selfies and shot in the junk?

    • W.H.Thompson September 1, 2015 at 8:08 pm

We’ll see 3-4 idiots blow their nuts off each year and therefore make it onto each chart. Most selfies are in the thigh, foot or hand. We’ve only come across a single instance of a guy shooting himself in the ass.

      • scooter46 September 2, 2015 at 4:07 pm

I guess they missed the rule on never pointing a weapon that you don’t intend to shoot in the firearm safety class?

      • The BIble has the Answer September 2, 2015 at 10:00 pm

If criminals were smarter we would all be in a HEAP of trouble!

  6. Tom September 2, 2015 at 7:04 am

I’ll guess 50 DRT and 300 wounded for September.

  7. Toni September 2, 2015 at 9:41 am

Sept….I’ll guess 43 homicides, 199 shot and wounded.

Honor students need to find God. Maybe, just maybe they’ll get to meet Him.
A+ honor students might end up south of the border.

  8. James brown September 2, 2015 at 3:52 pm

Crime wave is coming….. 65 ..dead 434 shot for September is what I’m thinking

    • Eddie September 2, 2015 at 6:47 pm

I admire your optimism. These guys don’t shoot well enough for 65 though.

      • James brown September 2, 2015 at 10:59 pm

8 so far in 2 days….black lives matter woooooooo

        • Eddie September 3, 2015 at 8:14 am

12 for the month so far. You might be right.

  9. Fr. Marquette September 2, 2015 at 9:28 pm

If ER personal and EMT’s ever go on strike we could see 250 dead….as it is September will have 48/285

    • Chicago Nick September 3, 2015 at 12:57 am

I’m going to wager between Chicago Fire Dept Paramedics and ER Docs, they’re reducing the homicide rate themselves by 30-40 a year because of how good they are and how technology and skill have improved over the years. If it wasn’t for them, we’d be flirting with 60 homicides in August vs 51.

  10. The BIble has the Answer September 2, 2015 at 9:52 pm

Folks, there used to be a time when we taught children to “LOVE YOUR ENEMIES”, now we teach them to say ‘cap em’! How about this, Forgiveness is a Powerful Thing! Murder is still murder and the 10 Commandments apply. http://www.180movie.com

  11. The BIble has the Answer September 2, 2015 at 9:58 pm

Dear DemocRATS please read this. Quote from Abraham Lincoln, (he freed the slaves): I destroy my enemies when I make them my friend. Food for thought

  12. Parker September 3, 2015 at 12:31 am

So that’s not a typo on the front page, huh? Utterly impressive, it’s like keeping score in Rwanda…..

  13. Big Cat September 3, 2015 at 4:18 am

Eleven DRT already? Thirty three percent lethality? In two days and not a weekend? I’m impressed! The range time is paying off!

    • Citycop September 3, 2015 at 7:51 am

Hey Eddie, how do you like that start? I think that guy my be right. 65 is possible. Wow. And Labor Day is right around the corner. Buckle up!

  14. RGH September 3, 2015 at 8:46 am

    Jesus Christ what a night.

  15. Dave Stumm September 3, 2015 at 9:36 am

have any of the “Death investigations” been closed? If so, do the stats show in the totals?

    • Parker September 3, 2015 at 10:52 am

Nah…they’ll come up as Natural Causes. It’s Natural to die when you fall asleep in a fire after your head is bashed in, or if absorbing multiple high-velocity projectiles.

    • W.H.Thompson September 3, 2015 at 12:05 pm

If one is closed, we’ll take them out of the death investigations chart and adjust the homicide charts accordingly. However, it doesn’t happen too often and we’re more likely to make the call based on what we hear vs the official word.

      • Dave Stumm September 3, 2015 at 8:57 pm

        thanks for the info
