August Wrap-up
Posted on August 31, 2021
Coming off a record July, it was highly unlikely that August would be an encore performance. However, a “downward trend” can now be claimed since we’ve gone from record territory into slightly not quite as record territory. Therefore “crime is down” and any other explanation is just a “misconception”.

We borrowed July’s busted forecast of 75 homicides with an additional 400 shot and wounded which ended up closer for August than the month it was intended for. Last September went with more of a less lead, more dead theme coming in at 86 homicides and 325 shot and wounded. This September, we’re going to re-reuse our July forecast again of 75 homicides with an additional 400 shot and wounded and see if we’re finally able to get within single digits for the homicide tally.
