When Everything is a Crime
Posted on December 5, 2014
Protesters were shutting down city streets last night, including Lake Shore Drive, but in our opinion, these protests are aimed at the wrong issue. While the media and certain personalities love to pour gasoline on the race issue, the bigger issue is the criminality of everything.
Eric Garner was selling “loosies”, much like a lot of people do, especially here in Chicago. Why? Because with local cigarette taxes pushing $8/pack, a thriving and profitable black market has been created to fill the void of cheap smokes.
Mildly retarded politicians (oops, that’s probably a felony) say that these sorts of taxes, fines and fees are “for the children” (red light & speed cameras) or are in the “best interest of public health” (sin taxes). In reality they are there to feed broke governments with much needed revenue and you can’t have some dude on a street corner skimming off the top.
It’s ironic that on the anniversary of the repeal of one of the worst laws ever, Prohibition, that it has been replaced by 10s of thousands of smaller, worse laws that are having the same consequences. Or should we say unintended consequences?
PS – Those of you joining the protests, you are likely being “Stingray”-ed, but not to worry, it’s for your own good and for the children of course.
Keep it short and to the point. Name calling and similar stupidity will be deleted. If you insist on writing several paragraphs, start your own blog.
