Self Defense, Again (x2)
Posted on June 14, 2017
As is the case every summer, as the weather heats up, the amount of lead flying around town goes up as well. While most of said lead comes from and/or is directed towards the usual suspects, occasionally, non-aligned individuals are keen on keeping what’s theirs. First up, down on the south side:
A man shot and killed the person who wounded him during an attempted robbery Monday night in the South Side Gresham neighborhood, according to police.
A 39-year-old man was in the 8300 block of South Elizabeth at 8:15 p.m. when he was approached by Dana Matthews, 18, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Matthews shot the older man in the abdomen, but the older man returned fire, striking the alleged robber twice in the legs and twice in the neck, police said.
Meanwhile, downtown of all places, the same idea with less deadly results:
A concealed carry holder who was being robbed in the Loop Wednesday afternoon fired his gun as he was being robbed, Chicago police said.
The man was sitting in traffic in the first block of East Wacker Drive, near State Street, around 3 p.m., when a male attacker distracted him and another male snatched belongings from his vehicle, police said.
The victim, who has a concealed carry permit, fired his gun and the robbers fled the scene.
The pearl clutching from the betters would have been epic if Wacker and Michigan guy connected. We’re positive there will be additional opportunities soon enough.
