July’s 57

Posted on August 4, 2015

CarnacJuly is always a lock for stupidity. It kicks off with the July 4th weekend and never looks back. In the end, dozens are dead and hundreds are injured.

As for our July prediction, it was a bit light for both counts: “…we’ll predict a total of 50 (+/-4) homicides plus another 300 (+/-10) shot and wounded.” Just a bit outside.

Final Stupidity Tally: 57 killed, 320 wounded
Last July’s Tally: 46 dead, 322 wounded

A breakdown of the month’s idiocy shows:

  • 49 shot & killed
  • The Chatham Four
  • 4 killed via other means
  • 6 ongoing “death investigations”
  • 6 police-involved shootings (2 killed)
  • 38 in serious or critical condition
  • 55 males killed, 2 females
  • 5 children killed (1, 5, 7, 9, 11)
  • 64 teenagers shot, 8 killed
  • 15 grazed
  • 2 selfies
  • 14 #ShotInTheAss
  • Just 12 shot in Englewood

Looking ahead to August, homicides tend to peak here and then start their long, slow slide down into winter. Last August tallied 54 homicides and 250 shot and wounded, therefore we’ll predict a total of 56 (+/-4) homicides plus another 300 (+/-10) shot and wounded.

Keep it short and to the point. Name calling and similar stupidity will be deleted. If you insist on writing several paragraphs, start your own blog.

Did your July Homicide total count Marsean Lofton?
    http://homicides.suntimes.com/2015/07/31/marsean-lofton-dies-six-weeks-after-being-show-in-west-garfield-park/

He was shot back on May 31st, but passed away on July, 17th. The media hadn’t mentioned anything about his death until about a week or so ago, and I know Chicago Redeye Homicide Tracker hasn’t updated a single thing in almost a month.

But Man, just looking at those numbers. To many teenagers (and people in general) are victims of gun violence (and also commit violence) in this city smh.

There is No Such Thing as Gun Violence.
It does not exist, except in the fears of our Leftist Leaders/ Media
There IS Black in Origin Violence and to a lesser degree Latino in Origin Violence together these two groups are responsible for 95% of all shootings in the Windy City.
In order to solve a problem ( any problem) you must be able to describe it factually.

“In order to solve a problem (any problem) you must be able to describe it factually.”

        I did. Gun Violence.

          Wrong 100%
Guns knives, pipes, bricks are All inanimate objects. It takes an Honor Student to turn any of them into a deadly weapon.
You describe a Fantasy World where things use themselves, without human intervention. Guns load ,aim and shoot themselves, knives fly through the air and slash or stab someone.
Bricks loosen themselves from walls and smash people on the head.
          Not real.

You would make sense if every ethnicity was shooting one another at the same rate. The fact is they are not with Caucasians and Asians conspicuously absent. Are you therefore saying blacks and to a lesser extent Latinos, are not as civilized as the aforementioned two groups? If that is the case, perhaps a hard look should be taken at keeping those two racial groups away from firearms. It is either guns, in which case all races seemingly would be having a shootapalooza, or it is not, requiring an honest look at the dudes pulling the triggers. Remember, whites and Asians have triggers too. What other explanation do you have for the discrepancy?

Exactly. And it’s not poverty, or else rural Kentucky and West Virginia would be mad max.
So what is it I wonder?

    • W.H.Thompson August 5, 2015 at 12:12 pm

Yes, but we applied it towards the date of the incident (May 31), not the time of death (July 17).

Redeye’s Homicide Tracker looks to be a dead resource now. The previous editor left for the Trib after maintaining it for 5 years.

        O.k.

Thanks for the info regarding redeye

guilty – bryant brewer. only took 5 years for the sbag lawyers and judges to adjudicate this “slam dunk” case. swift certain consequences – not in chicago court system – where the sbag lawyers/judges only interest is pilaging and plundering you the taxpayer for every red cent they can.

I’m real proud of our lads right now. Four days in and they’re already at 10+ per day. We need a little work on the trigger and sight picture, but dammit if they’re not showing heart.

    • Wolf August 5, 2015 at 9:22 am

Rest of Chicago should follow the lead of the South Chicago hood. Their kill rate to total shootings is at 30% and they are leading the pack. Perhaps they have an secret shooting range in some ones basement.
